My little bluejay bud is doing great. He eats about every hour and I still have to hand-feed him, though there is food and water in his cage in case he figures it out on his own. As it is, he just opens his mouth wide when he sees me... such an innocent and dependent little thing. Fortunately, we had a big parrot cage that Mike collected years ago from one of his many jobs, so the little fella has a lot of room to jump and fly from limb to limb.
He's very friendly and will readily jump onto my finger. He's still not quite ready to fly; I saw him fall to the bottom of the cage this morning and then have to start at the bottom limb and work his way back up. If he keeps doing well though, it won't be long before he's ready to take out on his own.
Here is what he (or she) will look once grown.
