I miss my blog and spending time here, so here I am... today anyway... Life is way too busy for me, but things will calm down again when spring gets here... really, it will, because for the first time since we moved here, I'm not going to have a big ol' veggie garden as the days get longer and longer. I'll probably have some tomatoes and peppers, but that's about it. I still have lots and lots of veggies from last year's garden in the freezers, so I need to use them up anyway. The bugs were so bad last year that they sucked the enthusiasm out of me as they sucked the life out of the veggies.
I have a few pictures for you guys - taken by my son and Sarah when they came to visit right before New Years Eve. They are not glam or hair shots and I look like what I am, Oma - to my granddaughter Margot, but here they are anyway, warts and all:
Here we are giving the chickens their midday treat. Margot loves the chickens and could have spent most of the visit out there hanging with them.
Below, we're in the chicken run just before Margot got down to interact with the chickens. Yes, check out my stylin' look. It was a chilly day and though legwarmers went out in the 80's for the most part, I still wear them around the cabin because they do what their names says.
Here are a couple of shots of my son, Jesse, and me. My hair hadn't been brushed or combed for a good while and we'd been outside, so it's kinda not too smooth looking.
Jesse hooked up a new TV he brought us and set it up to stream from the computer, so we got rid of our cable and now watch way better stuff when we want to watch TV. Most of the TV on cable seemed to be reality shows and Mike and didn't like 'em at all; most were so crass and superficial. Our Saturday morning show while we eat breakfast is usually The Andy Griffith Show. We started with the very first episode and are up to maybe episode 9. Today it was about the Golden Rule. They just don't make shows like that anymore! I'm not a goody-two-shoes though so don't be goin' there. I will admit that my favorite shows are ones Mike can't tolerate - period dramas. Too much conversation in them for Mike. I recently watched Middlemarch, The Forsyte Saga, Bleak House and, of course am watching Downton Abbey. We also have Pandora for music now and created a station for each of us and one that has music we both like. We're kinda catching up with the times.
At work, we were told that we couldn't go online at all anymore - even on our personal time! I've never experienced that before and it really put a damper on my sanity for about two weeks until Mike insisted I get an iPad or some such tablet. So that's what I did; I got a mini iPad and I am totally in love. I get to work 45 minutes early every day (to beat traffic), so I check emails and news and everything else I want to check out. And I do the same thing at lunch. I can even watch a movie if'n I want to! Way cool is all I have to say.
Yesterday I started searching for new hair toys on my lunch break... and found several that I want and would actually use. Thing is, I have so many hair toys that I never wear. I think I should put them on the long hair sites swap forums at long last. They are just gathering dust here. I'll post pictures of what I decide to get - and maybe even some action shots. One is handmade and the other is from France Luxe. I am still trying to learn new updos, but I'm pathetic about spending the time practicing to get 'em down pat. I am just too hair lazy - and, unless they are super quick, I don't have time to do them for work. Though... I do enjoy wearing my hair up these days. Since I watch lots of period movies and covet the styles I see (though most are likely not created solely from the actresses' own hair), I am constantly inspired by them and sometimes wish women wore the hats they used to wear... some look so pretty with the updos. But then they'd have to wear the dresses as well or those hats might look a little silly. I just don't think they'd work with jeans! Here is a hairstyle I'm going to try though, that looks simple enough for me, though I'm not sure if I'd use the hair rats:

I also like the look of this 'do, and wish I could see the back of it:
If and when I do it, I'll take some pictures with Mike's camera since mine is still in a nonworking state.
The chickens and kitties are all doing well and we're just anxiously awaiting the bursting forth of spring. The trees are bare and the skies are gray and I'm just plain over it.
Okay, I've gots lots to do and also want to go through a big box from the basement that is labeled, "Hair Odds & Ends" and appears to be filled to the brim with old hair toys, combs and all kind of cool things I will probably never use again. I think I'll spread it out on the floor and see just what's there...
I will try to respond to comments this weekend sometime and my apologies for being so extremely slow in getting to them.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
