The latest and the greatest is that Mike's shop is so packed with jobs and work that it's mind-boggling. It's what he's been waiting for! The problem now is that his new mechanic is so slow, it's taking forever to get the jobs done. But that's okay! People are starting to hear from other people (finally!) that Mike is an awesome welder and runs and honest and clean shop - and they are coming! People have always trickled in, but this is different; the shop is stuffed with work! That is a very good thing... and we're keeping our fingers crossed it will keep building upon itself as the bumpkins here have less and less influence.
In the meantime, I am trying to figure out how and when I can work out. It's been a year since I've done anything that I would consider heart pumping - and with the amount of time I have to sit on my butt these days, that is BAD. Really bad. Sitting is the new smoking you know. Yeah, it's as bad as smoking! And here is how much I sit on a workday: 13 hours. You read that right - 13 hours! That's ten hours at work (I have to get there early to beat the traffic), two hours of commuting and then sitting down once I'm home after cooking supper before going to bed. I've not gained weight; in fact, I weigh too little if you ask me, but I'm quite sure it's because I have lost a lot of muscle. I am glad that I've worked out so much in my life that it's not as bad as it could be, but still... it's bad. And I have to figure out what to do. Going to the gym on the weekend isn't enough and by the time I reach the weekend, I want to be home; I have things I need to do here! Anyone have a magic want I can borrow?
The horse boarding idea isn't going to work out for us since we figure we can only board two horses on the amount of grazing acreage we have. That wouldn't pay for all the new fencing and barn or shelter we'd have to build any time soon. It was a good idea, but we'll come up with something else if we decide to stay here.
My chickens still make me laugh all the time and they're always so happy. We lost one to a dog awhile back and Mike finally finished enclosing the run and it's very secure. Here is a shot I took today of a few of my buds. For those who remember Flapper, she is on the extreme left. She is still my lap chicken. She follows me around like a dog until I sit down and then she'll jump up into my lap and nuzzle her head at my neck. She's such a cool bird.
And Sophie is still my outdoor companion. She misses the garden though... she used to love walking down there with me and hanging out. The garden is now a mess of weeds with a lot of cleomes that popped up on their own. And a lot of mint that I've not had the time to pick and dry. Here is Sophie today.
That's it for now guys. Sorry I don't have a hair udpate yet, but right now it's got enough Monio oil on it to make me look like an oil slick and I have some of my homemade mask on my face. Not exactly ready-for-picture taking time. Ha!
